Nightstands that needed some attention

A nice gentleman had me out at his house adjusting some cabinet doors on his two decade old german shrunk. While I was there he asked me about some furniture he had upstairs. He took me up and showed me two nightstands and two chests made by Ashley Furniture. I took some pictures and let him know I'd be in touch.

A few days later I sent him a quote to refinish the nightstands and chests at separate times. I work out of my two car garage right now, so space is limited and I have ongoing refinishing. He accepted the quotes and after a bit longer than I intended, I got them done and returned to him. I had to strip and refinish both tops due to aging finish, damages and some acetone stains. I was careful not to sand through the top veneer. Once stripped, I laid down the base color and once that dried I sealed the color and veneer. Then I laid down two toners to get it to the right color, then colored the edges with a light shadow of black, afterwards I was able to top it off with some satin lacquer.

After two days of cure time, I returned them to him. We were both extremely happy with how it turned out and it looks great in the home. I still have to do the chests, but will need to revisit those when space allows it.

I didn't take great before pictures of this, but I have a short video showing the before and after. Check it out on my facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1KLNZeg56j/
